April 2014

We had a good meeting in March with the visit of our Regional Vice President; Wesley Hardman. He gave us some insights to using PTG web resources and gave us information for the changes for PTG in the up coming year.

One thing of note is the proposed change in RPT examinations to allow examinees to use an ETD for all tuning exams except for the unison section. There will also be a small increase in our yearly dues in the coming year to account for increased costs in providing for PTG services such as the National Convention which puts a considerable cost on the organization as well as the publication of the Journal. Many costs have been eliminated to allow for the smaller proposed increase. This 3% to 5% increase is common to many areas of life of course such as rents, shipping costs, groceries etc. and......piano tuning fees. A yearly evaluation of your tuning fee should be in order. Don't short yourself on a highly skilled service. Our fees need to rise with the rest of the world too. Most people are willing to pay for quality work.

This will be the last newsletter until the fall just before our third meeting for the year. If I receive enough contributions for the newsletter before then we will have another in the interim. At this point, however, nobody has been sending anything to publish so we do not have enough participation to continue on a regular basis. See the Contribute link above for ideas.

At our April meeting we will vote for officers for the coming year. Nominations were made at the last meeting to keep the line-up as it is with Dan Berg (President), Patsi Franklin (Vice President), Brian Scott (Treasurer) and Mike Mathwig (Secretary).
